This is the best investment I am going to make year after year, no matter what. I honestly think that this investment is going to go well past into 2024 and into the future. The number one investment that I’m going to make no matter what, this investment like I said will always stand the test of time, is the investment of myself.
When I tell you that I am the latest trend, I’m the hottest gadget, I’m the best thing on the block; I am telling you that’s what it is and you should be making that same investment. You should be investing in yourself because you are going to stand the test of time.
Education
We have all heard the saying that knowledge is power and let me tell you that is so true because in today’s day and age you can type just about anything into Google search and come up with some form of answer. Of course you want to do your vetting, but the information is out there through the internet, public libraries, through various coaching calls, and most importantly experience. At the age we’re at and whatever we’re going through, experience is by far the best teacher out there.
The first thing that I’m going to do is educate myself. I’m going to go to the authorities that are out there in the field I’m interested in. I’m going through YouTube University because you can learn so much through YouTube University. I’m taking advantage of classes whether they’re free or paid through Udemy, Teachable, or anything like that. I’m learning, I’m investing the time, and I’m putting in the study so that I can learn what I’m interested in. I’m also going to use coaching services. There are free coaching services, there are paid coaching services, there are different masterminds out there.
Educating yourself is so important because the more you pour into yourself allows you to be an advocate for yourself or you can possibly become an advocate for someone else who may not have the knowledge that you have gained over time.
Also, getting into your education and learning something new can eventually lead to a new career field if that’s something that you’re interested in. Before anything the first thing I’m going to do when I’m investing in myself is educate myself.
Saving
The next thing that I’m going to do when I’m investing myself is making sure that I have something set aside for a rainy day and something set aside for my future self. I’m talking saved cash that is accessible and I’m talking investments. For my saved cash I have it sitting in a high yield savings account. I’m not trying to get rich off of it, but I’m trying to get a little bit more than what your brick and mortar banks offer. For investments, I’m talking my employer sponsored investment accounts for retirement. Like your 401k or your TSP if you’re a government employee. Also, I’m talking regular brokerage accounts that are a taxable investment vehicle.
I’m setting something aside and it’s very important that I set stuff aside. Let me tell you guys, here’s my confession: I know I get on here and I’m talking about saving and budgeting and doing that but I am a spender! If I do not give my money a purpose, I am going to spend it! I am a consumer, if you show me the latest kitchen gadget or the latest this or the latest that I’m going to buy it! I’m not telling any stories so it’s very important to me to give my money a purpose when I’m setting financial goals. I know that if I do not assign that money a purpose I am going to spend it. Make sure you have an emergency fund or some type of savings account and you also have some form of an investment account.
Health
The next way I’m going to invest in myself is through investing in my health. In order to get the most out of my mind and my body I have to properly take care of myself. This comes in the form of finding some form of balance and there’s plenty of resources out there. I do know there’s free and paid workout groups, you can join a YMCA. There are coaching calls, tele-health now. There’s so many things available on YouTube, you can read books about a healthier lifestyle. Don’t forget about your mental health also. Read your Bible or doing whatever it is you have to do to relax and decompress.
Again educate yourself, because there are options available.
I think this investment is very important also because we put our bodies through a lot, we put our minds through a lot. Taking care of ourselves through being healthy, exercising, finding downtime gives us a greater appreciation of the things that we do with our bodies. I’ve said it before health equals wealth so take care of your bodies and remember
We get to do this. We get to wake up every day. We get to interact with people. We get the opportunity every day to go out and do something great !
Time
The next thing that I’m investing in is my time. We have to be good stewards of our time. If it makes you happy, add more of it to your life. If it doesn’t, take it away from your life. Life is too short to continue to do things that don’t bring us joy and don’t make us happy. Make sure we are being good stewards of our time and we are properly investing in our time.
Between our time, personal finances, health, and our education it is important that you make the bet on yourself. Know that you are capable of doing great things!
I’m betting on anything or anyone I am betting on me and I think you should do the same.
